Harvesting the Wind

The goals of Burt County Wind are to harvest our local renewable energy resources to meet growing energy and ecological demands, reduce our property tax burden, better fund our schools and county services, and produce low cost energy for Nebraska utilities and businesses.

Burt County Wind LLC is a 22-member group of Burt County farmers that was established in July of 2010 with the purpose of helping our county develop its alternative energy resources in a safe and efficient manner.

Burt County Wind believes that farmers can lead in emission free energy generation and protect the quality of life in our community for years to come.

 Burt County Wind also:

  • Helps inform area residents about the facts around alternative energy

  • Works with area landowners to secure land for additional Burt County Wind and Solar Projects

  • Advises area towns on how to develop community solar projects

  • Vets landowner leases to ensure they are up to Burt County standards

  • Supports good county zoning that respects rural residents but signals Burt County is open for business

The prospective Burt County Wind Project, which will be located in central Burt County, is a 75 megawatt project and will consist of approximately 16 wind turbines.
